Organisations
Organisation change projects:
Matthew has been working in the field of personal and organisation change for the thick end of 30-years. His work is focused on enabling leaders, teams and organisations to change - improving and transforming their performance. Before starting his own business in 2007, he spent nine years working as a Senior Manager at KPMG, one of the Big 4 global accounting and consulting firms.
He developed a taste for strategy and change whilst studying for his Business Studies degree. In his final year he was the sole person (out of 140 people) awarded the Whitbread Corporate Strategy prize for excellence shown in this area.
When he started work for Wesleyan Assurance in 1991 (now the largest UK provider of financial services to doctors, lawyers, dentists and teachers) he began to put this thinking into practice: he was a key member of a team working with McKinsey & Co. consultants on the implementation of a business transformation strategy (after less than two years, a sales force of 300 was producing more than the previous sales force of 900.) That growth strategy continued with numerous acquisitions and he was involved in the messy business of integrating those new organisations.
This change work continued when he joined KPMG in 1998. The issues however became more complex and diverse. It culminated in spending two of his last four years at KPMG leading an organisation wide change programme (Impact to Win!) with the top two tiers of leaders in KPMG Corporate Finance. The programme focused on breaking through to new levels of personal and organisational performance. The Board attributed part of the 29% growth in income to the work of this programme. During the programme, engagements with fees of more than £750k increased from four to 17!
Since starting Real-Eyes in 2007:
Matthew has been involved in some of the largest corporate transformation programmes that have taken place over the last decade.
During his time at KPMG he realised that to have more impact, he needed to work more holistically around change projects. This led him to complete a three-year master’s degree in Change Agent Skills & Strategies, which is a highly practical programme focusing on advanced coaching and facilitation skills and post-conventional approaches to leading change within organisations.
This, along with a number of other programmes that he did afterwards (and some gnarly experiences!), has equipped him to work with far greater impact. See Development Journey for the other change programmes and qualifications he has invested in.
