Who We Work With: Teams
Matthew has been designing and leading sessions for groups since 1991. This started with more conventional sales and product training when he worked at Wesleyan Assurance (largest UK provider of financial services to doctors, lawyers, dentists and teachers). Three years in, he was a key member of a team working with McKinsey & Co. consultants on the implementation of a business transformation strategy (after less than two years, a sales force of 300 was producing more than the previous sales force of 900.) This launched him into facilitating change and performance-related sessions for live teams.
Both facilitation strands continued when he joined KPMG in 1998. The issues however became more complex and diverse. It culminated in leading a 12-month programme (Impact to Win!) with the top two tiers of leaders in KPMG Corporate Finance. The programme focused on enabling Partners & Directors to enhance their impact and gravitas in the pursuit of bigger deals. The Board attributed part of the 29% growth in income to the work of this programme. A key metric was engagements with fees of more than £750k. During the programme they increased from four to 17!
During his time at KPMG he realised that to have more impact, he needed to work more holistically with teams and at depth. This led Matthew to complete a three-year Master’s degree in Change Agent Skills & Strategies, which is a highly practical programme focusing on advanced coaching and facilitation skills and post-conventional approaches to leading change within organisations. This, along with a number of other programmes that he did afterwards (and some gnarly experiences!), has equipped Matthew to work with far greater impact.

Facilitating sessions for managers in a global oil company to become more effective at influencing and achieving better results in a complex matrix structure.
Being an Action Learning Group facilitator on numerous development programmes and through a balance of challenging and supportive interventions, seeing countless leaders and professionals grow and develop and noticeably increase the scale and quality of their contribution to their organisation.

Designing multiple personal and leadership skill programmes for numerous global corporates. These have ranged from virtual classroom-based session lasting a few hours up to full on 12-month development programmes that work at depth. Some examples are below.
Designing and leading a 12-month leadership program for two law firms that merged to create a Legal-50. It sped up the integration.
Designing and leading a 9-month development programme for high-potential back office staff at KPMG. The programme focused on unlocking the barriers to making a bigger commercial contribution. Over 40% of participants were promoted because of their increased contribution.
Designing and leading a 9-month impact development programme for the Directors of an international Corporate Finance firm. Fees sourced by participants increased dramatically.
Designing a 12-month programme to enable an international surveying firm to move upmarket and to sell on value. Equipped Regional Directors to present the 12 modules. The programme paid for itself several times over.
Being on several leadership development faculties for international blue-chips, such as BP and KPMG and delivering their curriculum all over the world.
Creatively using virtual classroom technology (predominantly Adobe Connect) to run a variety of highly engaging leadership and personal skills development programmes.
Designing 13 modules focused on the critical skills needed for Selling High Value Solutions – he turned this into a separate subsidiary.
